EP 8 : The Circle of Life

Rating : 3/5

Overall Series Rating : 3.25/5

This review contains spoilers for Episode 7 of The Last Hour. Proceed at your own risk.

If the title of the episode is not a giveaway, I don't know what is. Like the previous episode, this too is short at 25 odd minutes. It is good, but not as good as the previous one. However, it does provide the perfect launchpad for the next season.

We saw in the previous episode that Pinto was the third person along with Yama Nadu and Thapa. Here, we see his motive for doing so. Dev confronts him about Pari but Pinto doesn't admit to anything. Meanwhile the search is on for Thapa and his vehicle after he crashes into the mountain while being chased by Arup. The lead from the vehicle puts him on Pinto's tail too.

Dev finds himself in his Last Hour thanks to Yama Nadu. He bids farewell to Pari's spirit and tells her to control the voices in her head. It is a power which she will need in the future. Shocked by Dev's revelation, Pari starts flatlining but is saved by the doctors. Dev too aborts his voyage to the other side to help stop Yama Nadu. As Dev's mother explains, his power of going in to the past shouldn't fall in to Yama Nadu's hands or he would change the past and the future along with it.

This wasn't exactly the episode we wanted but maybe the episode the series needs. How is Dev going to stop Yama Nadu? What exactly is Pari's power? How will Nyima help in this? Will Arup be able to confront his inner demons successfully? All this will be hopefully answered in the subsequent season.

Bottomline : Not what we expected but important nevertheless.

Series Bottomline : Give it a shot as it is a decent blend of crime and supernatural elements.
