Vennela Kishore – Ushering In The Age Of The New Age Comedian

“Akka, pakkaki jarugutave prapancham kanapadatle”! is a famous dialogue that every youth will remember for life. He has been serving Telugu films with this extraordinary humor and stunning audiences with his terrific punches and incredible spontaneity. Considered as a mass entertainer as well as a class comedian, he is none other than Bokkala Kishore Kumar, more famously known as “Vennela” Kishore.

Born in a small town in Telangana, Kishore always wanted to become an actor. The funny part is, after all these years, he still claims to be an aspiring artiste. Kishore is one of the most versatile people in TFI. Apart from being an actor, he has also written the dialogues and screenplay for two movies. To top it all, he has even wielded the megaphone for both of them.

Kishore is, in his own words, “a movie idolizer, food freak and a xBox geek. (The last one was in the past, though). He got the moniker “Vennela” after his debut movie in Telugu, Vennela. The movie bombed but the name stuck. And it has become one of the more famous names in TFI. Kishore is an avid social media user and treats his followers with regular updates of his life in tinsel town. However, he is very private when it comes to his personal life. He also owns a YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/IamVennelaKishore.

2008 was a year which many people will not forget in a hurry and the same holds good for Kishore. For it was in 2008 that Kishore took the plunge into acting by quitting his job as a software quality engineer in the U.S.

Like many Indians, Kishore is crazy about cricket and one can spot him playing gully cricket with the locals whenever he finds time. Many of his co-artistes like to spend time with him and hang out with him during the IPL. Samantha Akkineni is one of his best friends. Kishore is also a die-hard fan of the Thalaivar. One less known and interesting fact is that Rajnikanth shares a lot of details – personal and professional, with Kishore.

Bhale Bhale Magadivoy was a game changer in the truest sense for Kishore. Till then he had been struggling professionally and personally. BBM gave Kishore a new lease of life and since then, he hasn’t looked back. He began his career with Vennela in 2005 which portrayed him superbly as a a comedian with great comic timing. He got his second break in 2010 with Inkosaari (as Bala Bokkala) which made him get the Nandi award for Best Comedian.

“Muddu Krishna Pedda Edava!!” How can anyone forget this dialogue from Bindaas? Dookudu was probably the first of the many big-ticket films that came his way. And he didn’t disappoint - Bamma comedy tho bhale chesadu. “Bhansali Kuch Bola? Nay tho!” was one outstanding comedy bit that TFI saw. Kishore amused audiences with his kick-ass comedy in Sarileru Neekevvaru and Ala Vaikunthapuramlo. Kishore has been one of the new age stars of TFI. And with his modulations, mannerisms and expressions, Kishore along with Rahul Ramakrishna and Priyadarshi are redefining the role of the comedian in the Telugu Film Industry.
